Nicolas Sourdey,
Cinematographer, colorist, photographer, trainer

I was born and raised in France. Married to a woman from Burkina Faso, I am the proud father of two mixed-race daughters.

From an early age, I was attracted to both still and moving images. So I spent a long time drawing, painting, photographing and making films.

One of my great desires is to commune with the arts, media, communication and technology while sharing what I’ve learned. So I joined the Dupon-Duran company as Head of Shooting and Chief Operator.

I then opted for the status of “intermittent du spectacle”, which suits me perfectly and allows me, among other things, to benefit from professional internships.

Throughout my career, I’ve been lucky enough to witness some extraordinary scenes and to work alongside many people who have inspired me:

  • I walked on the North Pole ice floes with Jean-Louis Etienne,
  • I sailed on the great racing yachts Dupon-Duran I, II and III, with Pascal Hérold,
  • I flew all over Tunisia for the film of President Ben Ali,
  • I traveled to the four corners of the musical world with the “Mégamix”, “Tracks” and other programs,
  • I reached the heights of video creation with the shows “L’oeil du cyclone”, “Nulle part ailleurs”, “Le vrai journal”, “Die nacht”, “Karambolage”, “Caméra café”, …
  • I embraced the gentle artistic madness of Groland, Ariel Vizman and Edouard Baer, Omar et Fred, Les Deschiens, Les Guignols, …
  • I’ve lived to the rhythms of the cultures of Algeria, Burkina Faso, Guyana, Mali, Morocco, Trinidad and Tobago, …
  • I’ve shared powerful, intimate moments with such luminaries as Alain Bashung, Césaria Evora, George Clinton, I Am, Jean-Louis Aubert, Jessye Norman, John Cale, Julia Minguenez Johnson, Kassav, Les Rita Mitsouko, Michel Legrand, NTM, Salif Keita, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Willy De Ville, …
  • I’ve worked with many leaders in the commercial industries, all of whom have taught me so much: Alcatel Lucent, Alstom, AXA, BPCE, Carrefour, Cartier, Crédit Lyonnais, EDF/GDF, Engie, Eutelsat, France Télécom, Garnier, Honda, HSBC, Hyundai, IBM, KPMG, La Poste, Lolita Lempika, Louis Vuitton, L’Oréal, Mac Donald’s, Macif, Magasins U, Matmut, Michelin, Nissan, Natixis, Orange, Procter & Gamble, PSA, Renault, Sanofi, Spie Batignolles, SNCF, Total, Ubisoft, …

So my career has given me opportunities to do and see remarkable things all over the world, and I’ve seized every one of these chances by learning, discovering and adapting appropriate and innovative audiovisual storytelling technologies.

Pedagogical, rigorous and a good listener, I also use my knowledge as a trainer to bring my skills to life and acquire new ones.

To this day, I’m always on the lookout for new tactics to use my experience. I have a passion for technology and experience in developing original ideas. Finally, I remain as excited about what the future will bring as I have been on the path that has brought me to this point.
